Neoseiulus agrestis – predatory mite against thrips, whitefly and spider mites
Pack size: 30,000 pcs, tube
Neoseiulus agrestis is a predatory mite living in dry habitats. The species reproduces by thelytokous parthenogenesis – unfertilised females lay eggs from which only females develop. The female reaches its maximum egg laying on day 12 (2.5 eggs per female on average) and lays up to 85% of her eggs within 2 weeks. The body is light brown.
Target pests
- western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis),
- greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum),
- two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae),
- strawberry mite (Tarsonemus pallidus).
Crops
Cucumber, aubergine, pepper, rose, gerbera, chrysanthemum, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, grapevine and other crops.
Life cycle and development conditions
Five stages: egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, adult. Development from egg to adult usually takes 7–14 days and adult females live up to 4 weeks. The optimum temperature is about 18–26 °C at air humidity above 65%.
Key advantages
- high efficacy in cucumber crops,
- fast reproduction thanks to thelytokous parthenogenesis,
- long-lasting pest control,
- adaptability and ecological safety.
Application
Litre tubes with carrier material are used for release; the contents are sprinkled over densely planted crops. In intensively growing greenhouse crops we recommend the E-Scatter robot for automatic, even distribution of the beneficials on every plant.
- Preventive rate: 50–100 individuals/m².
- Rate for controlling pest hotspots: 100–500 individuals/m².
