Mac Food Plus – long-acting food for Macrolophus pygmaeus

Mac Food Plus is a unique mix of proteins, minerals and vitamins that keeps the food active on the plants for up to two weeks. Natural stabilisers protect the food from ultraviolet radiation and prevent premature drying. Intended for feeding Macrolophus pygmaeus and Orius laevigatus. Producer: Bioproduction.

Benefits of feeding Macrolophus pygmaeus

• high longevity of Macrolophus,
• intensive development of the bug,
• increased female fecundity,
• development of Macrolophus on the plants before the pest population appears.

The food is used while the predatory bug population is being established or maintained on the crop. Without pests or alternative food Macrolophus switches to plant sap, and its lifespan and fecundity drop fivefold – which is why we recommend the MacFood Plus mix, optimal for fast population growth during preventive introduction.

Effect on Macrolophus development

Macrolophus developing on McFood has high vitality. With this food the hatching rate from eggs was 75%, larval survival 76%, overall viability 68% and female fecundity 62 eggs.

Dosage

Food rates for Macrolophus pygmaeus in greenhouse rows are from 100 g per hectare per week.

Packaging and storage

100 g pack. Store fresh food in a refrigerator for no longer than 7–10 days. Thawed food must not be refrozen.
