Benefits of feeding Macrolophus pygmaeus

Without pests or alternative food Macrolophus switches to feeding on plant sap, and its lifespan and fecundity drop fivefold. To stabilise population development in the greenhouse we recommend the single-ingredient food based on Sitotroga cerealella eggs.
Effect on Macrolophus development
Food quality strongly affects the bug's development and the duration of each stage. With this food the hatching rate of Macrolophus from eggs was 65%, larval survival 71% and overall viability 63%.
Dosage
Food rates for Macrolophus pygmaeus in greenhouse rows are from 100 g per hectare per week.
Packaging and storage
100 g pack. Store fresh food in a refrigerator for no longer than 7–10 days. Thawed food must not be refrozen.
